Bonnie Koenig has been a licensed acupuncturist since 1999. She graduated from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine which has an excellent herbal program as well as acupuncture. In her continuing education studies, Bonnie has extensively follow Dr. Tran Viet Dzung, a French doctor who is also an acupuncturist and expert on the ancient acupuncture classic, the Ling Shu.  Bonnie’s areas of interest are internal medicine and mental health conditions. She works with many patients who have chronic conditions such as fribromyalgia and works with those who are also undergoing chemotherapy. She uses acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and some Jin Shin Do in her practice.

Acupuncture needles have rounded tips and are designed to go between the tiny skin and muscle fibers rather than tear through them like a standard syringe. Some people do feel a tiny prick with the needle, many patients feel nothing at all.

One inserted the needles can be turned in certain ways which can cause an achiness or heaviness where the needle is placed. Sometimes patients will report sensations elsewhere. However, it is rarely painful.

The theory behind acupuncture is very different from that of Western Medical Science.
